eLearning Day Information

The South Carolina Governor’s School for Agriculture at John de la Howe (SCGSA) is designated as an eLearning School. Those schools who meet the criteria for an eLearning School as determined by the Department of Education may use up to five eLearning days to allow for the make-up of short-term disruptions to in-person teaching and learning.

Expectations

Assignments will be posted and clearly labeled as "eLearning Assignments" to Schoology for the majority of courses. VirtualSC Courses and Dual Enrollment courses will continue to use whichever platform is used during normal instruction. Any synchronous (live) instruction, extra help sessions, or live office hours will utilize the Microsoft Teams platform. Students will be expected to contact the teacher of the specific course via email with any course-specific questions. Students are expected to access and submit all assignments within 5 days of the school returning to normal schedule. Students will be counted present for each individual block if they submit all eLearning Assignments within the 5 days after the school returns to normal schedule for each block. If a student does not submit all eLearning Assignments for any block within the 5 days allotted, the student will be counted absent for the eLearning Day for that block.

If any student or staff is having technical problems, they should email ITHelpDesk@delahowe.sc.gov

Schedule

The schedule for eLearning Days will be determined based on the disruption. Any synchronous learning (live sessions), help sessions, or office hours will be held during the normal class times (schedule provided below) unless other information is communicated by the teacher. Any additional office hours will be communicated by the teacher of each course via email. For each eLearning day, students should anticipate spending 50 minutes of instruction (live sessions, reading, listening, videos, etc) and 40 minutes of student engagement (assignments, studying, etc) for each block.

1st Block: 8:00am-9:25am

2nd Block: 9:30am-11:00am

3rd Block: 12:00pm-1:25pm

4th Block: 1:30pm-3:00pm

Communication

Communication regarding eLearning Days will be sent to staff, students, and parents via email, text message, phone call, and posted to the agency website and social media platforms. Any questions regarding eLearning Day expectations can be sent to the eLearning Coordinator at Jordan.Glace@delahowe.sc.gov.

Students are expected to check email and their appropriate Learning Management System for each course to get information and assignments. Students should email the teacher of the course for any course-specific information. Teacher emails can be found at https://www.delahowe.sc.gov/staff?filter_ids=518994.
