It’s SAE Sunday of National FFA Week. Today we celebrate "doing to learn" and applaud our FFA members' SAE projects. COLTON BANKS has been training his hunting dog for his supervised agricultural experience, and they went to Missouri recently for the dog's first snow goose hunt.

Community partners make the Governor's School for Agriculture mission soar. Dr. Keown and farm manager Mr. McCall welcomed Chris Townson, new CEO of West Carolina, and retired CEO Jeff Wilson to campus Thursday. West Carolina ensures that our campus is connected to the world.

An enthusiastic band of Aggies traveled to Senior Night at McCormick High, where Aggie schoolmate Thomas Clinton was recognized. Thomas and other JDLH students have the chance to play traditional scholastic sports through an agreement with McCormick High. Congratulations, Thomas!





Luke McNeil, Emily White, Blake Arias, Elizabeth Viseth, Dell Brockman and Ian McCoy traveled Wednesday to the State House for a reunion of attendees from last year's Farm Bureau Summer Leadership Conference, held annually at our campus. They ran into state Rep. Patrick Haddon.


A group of 13 Aggies traveled to Aiken last week with equine coordinator Heather Rhoden and volunteer Sandy Toll. They visited the Aiken Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame, Aiken Training Track, met with trainer Brad Stauffer and toured other equine enterprises in historic Aiken.











The first peach trees are in the ground at the Eubanks Farm. Our farm manager Eric McCall and crew, along with Aggieship students, laid out the rows where trees donated by Big Smile Peaches in Johnston will grow. The fruit will replace Leyland cypresses lost in Hurricane Helene.





At lunchtime today, our Aggies participated in Cinema Drive, an innovative, evidence-based safe-driving education presentation that included real-time survey data on student attitudes about unsafe driving and a 3D experience that takes students into the impact from drunk driving.


Jalissa Newton, our school counselor, was honored for her service Friday during a lunchtime observance of National School Counseling Week. Principal Greg Thompson praised her work in assisting our students during their high school years and planning for the future.

Student leaders Emily White and Luke Williams joined Dr. Tim Keown and other staff today at the State House in Columbia for the annual Senate budget hearing. It was an opportunity for these students to see South Carolina government in action.
